My Future Birthday Gift

Image
T here’s a great advantage for working at an Antique Mall!! Of course one of those reasons is that you get to enjoy all those beautiful antiques. Another is that you get a employee discount. Well, the one advantages I love the most is that you get to pick your birthday gift, and everyone pitches in to get it for you! Just the other day I was making an inventory for someone who was looking for Beatrix Potter figurines. There’s a lot of those, by the way! They are soooo cute! Anyway, while I was writing down the info of one I found, something caught my eye. Do you want to see it?!! It was a Johnson Brothers “Old British Castles” Teapot. I picked it up “ooing” and “awing” over it, and found a price that seemed too good to be true!! Well, I had to put it down, knowing I could never get it, even if it was a great price. I went on with what I was doing, but I just had to show my co-workers my recent “love”. As I was doing so, my co-worker asked me when my birthday was. I told he

Decorating ~ Home and Blog

O ne of my most favorite things to do (there I go with the word "favorite" again) is to decorate! To make a room pleasing to the eye, warm and inviting, comfortable to the touch, and a safe haven is what decorating means to me. To me, the first rule of decorating your home is to invite the Lord to live there, just as it is in your soul. "But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord." Joshua 24:15b It is He who is our comfort and safe haven! In knowing and understanding that, we know what we need to do to make our homes that place for family and friends, and for those who do not know Him! When it comes to my blog, I feel the same way. I decorate it the way that I decorate our home! I want you to feel at home, at ease, in friend's company......to be a warm and inviting place to enjoy reading about my life as if we are sitting down with a cup a tea, or latte (as some of you know me) talking about what's going on in my life, and what God is doing

Over the Bannister...

I t seems that I've been sharing a lot of favorite's with you....but one of my MOST favorite scene, in a musical, is in Meet Me in St. Louis. While dimming the lights on the staircase, John admires Esther and tells her, "How does it go?" She questions him, then he goes on starting to quote a poem and just couldn't remember how the rest went. And with this beautiful voice, Esther sings the rest of the poem! Ahhh!! I just love it! Enjoy!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Proverbs 17:27

"A man of knowledge uses words with restraint, and a man of understanding is even-tempered" Proverbs 17:27 I n todays reading of Proverbs, I came across this verse that I had underlined. Well, it's no secret that when a verse is underlined, it either means you have someone in your life that it relates to, or that you are the one who needs to apply it. Well, it's the latter for me. I am a blunt person, and not always even-tempered. These 2 are not a good combo. My mouth tends to fly freely without thinking which causes to hurt, offend, or even anger someone. But when I'm angry, words just sting the one I'm flinging them at or cause them to get riled up; then I start a all out war, and I start regretting what I said. Normally, it my loved one's that I have done this to, and I HATE it! God has worked in this area throughout my life. I have learned to restrain and be even-tempered, although I still have my moments. Thank the Lord, they are few! But I hope

Preparing for a Holiday Craft Fair

Image
L ast month, I decided to participate in one of our local Holiday Craft Fairs since I have been enjoying making my yo yo doilies. I will be sharing a table with one of my dear lady friends, who makes beautiful jewelry. The other day, I went to Joann's to find fabric to make Fall/Thanksgiving and Christimas yo yo doilies. Whenever I go to Joann's, it takes me nearly an hour just to make a decision on fabric for any project I do, but this time was very easy, thank the Lord! I sure hope I can get at least 40 yo yo doiles done in time!! But I know they will turn out pretty with these fabrics! I'm in love with this fabric!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Proverbs 16:31

"Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained by a righteous life." Proverbs 16:31 O kay, so it only one hair, but I'm proud of it! And by the way it's white, not gray. When my grandmother was in her late 30's, her hair turned pure white! From the pictures I've seen, it was beautiful! I don't believe my hair will come to that, but I like the fact that I inherited a little bit of this from her. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
